Communication Makes for a Successful Business – Big or Small

Communication separates a good business from a great one. With GDPR fast approaching communication and team working skills are paramount for each and every one of us.

The way in which we communicate directly impacts how others view us personally or professionally. In an increasingly digital world, good communication practices, both in-person and online, are more important than ever before. Teams must collaborate to achieve a common outcome.

At Root2growth we have a small yet effective team who work determinedly to ensure communication remains at the heart of what we do. After all, we do deliver financial and accounting workshops thus a clear vision and communication are really everything. We rely on our brand awareness and the way our services are perceived. Over time we have developed a great trust and understanding between employees and the ability to work together toward a common dream. The way a team plays, as a whole, determines its success. Confidence in our brand is essential as the ability to communicate in a self-assured manner will no doubt build trust with your audience.

We believe there are a handful of skills that stand out above all others and are important in any business, big or small. These skills play a pivotal role in our business, and our Finance for Non-Financial Managers workshops, and the other services we provide at Root2Growth.

Teamwork skills – we believe the ability to effectively communicate with others who may have different approaches and skill sets is essential. As individuals we rely on others, both personally and professionally, to accomplish projects.

Listening skills – at Root2Growth the ability to actively listen and incorporate each other’s views in our day to day work is paramount. To be an effective listener, allow pauses for interjections, repeat other people’s words and ask questions to show that you are engaged in the conversation.

Verbal skills – delivering workshops relies almost 100% on the ability to successfully communicate information. Whether it be ideas, thoughts, opinions and updates, your verbal skills should be regarded highly and continuously worked on.

Discussion - A full-day workshop can be daunting for both you and your audience. Our workshop sessions are often in small groups of 8 to 10 and the key is making the workshop enjoyable and compelling. We have found that by getting your audience involved through activity or conversation they engage and retain information more effectively.

Emotional intelligence – at work, high emotional intelligence directs social interactions and will improve communication and allows teams to sensitively discuss differing opinions. Leaders who actively pay attention to others’ emotions will have happier employees. This can be applied to working with clients at our workshops.

As a team we felt this is a quote that validates all the above points “We are stronger when we listen and smarter when we share”
